Gira Waterfall, Saputara: A Hidden Gem of Gujarat’s Monsoon Magic
Gira Waterfall is one of those gems tucked away in the green cover of the Saputara region. It felt hidden, in a good way. Not crowded, not too widely known, just beautiful nature being beautiful nature. The sound of rushing water, the breeze of cool mist, and the overall ambiance relaxed you into the moment, particularly during the monsoon. If you want to surround yourself with beautiful nature and forget about the world for a little while, this may just be your next weekend getaway.

The Journey to Gira Waterfall – A High Nature Depressive.
So, if you happen to be in Saputara, it is not too hard to reach Gira Waterfall. It is about 3 to 4 km away, and you can either take your car, bike, or even walk it if you want the adventure. The road is pretty curvy with trees around, and during monsoon, it is super green.
We noticed small streams from the road itself, and at one point, the clouds came so low, we couldn’t see it was clouds. If walking, I suggest shoes that have grip, as it can be a bit muddy. However, it is also more like a fun small jungle walk. You hear birds, and you might even spot monkeys too.
When you walk or ride up to the spot, you hear the waterfall before you see it. The noise gets more and more obvious as you get closer. Overall, the ride or walk there is like an adventure, you are close to nature all around.
First Impressions – What You Will See at The Falls
The first thing to notice when you reach the waterfall is the sound. It’s loud, but in a nice way, like water dancing on the rock. The water comes from above and drops into a small pool. When it drops, it looks very white and bright, like milk falling from above the clouds.
Around the waterfall are large green trees, as well as many small plants. During the monsoon, everything looks fresh and bright. The air is cool and moist, and you can sometimes feel mist on your face. The rocks are moist and dark and if you sit long enough peacefully, you can hear the birds and wind too.
It feels peaceful there. Almost as if time slows down. Sometimes people just sit on the rock and watch the water for a long time, without talking. It’s the kind of place that can calm you down just by being there.
Best Time to Visit – When the Waterfall Comes Alive
If you want to see Gira Waterfall at its best time, visit in monsoon time. That is June to September. This monsoon period is very rainy, so the waterfall is big and full. The water is falling vigorously and everything around looks really green.
Sometimes there is a drizzle while you’re walking, but it feels nice. You should wear a rain coat or carry an umbrella for when it rains, good beach shoes; sandals are not a good shoe since the ground is often slippery.
Summer and winter are also okay times to visit, but you won’t see as much water at those times. In monsoon it feels more alive and beautiful; more a type of nature magic occurring.

Activities to Do Near Gira Waterfall
Despite the attraction of the waterfall, there are several small activities within the area that will make your outing more enjoyable. For photography lovers, this location is ideal with the trees, water, and mist being very photogenic – even if you don’t have a big camera, your phone photos will look fantastic here too.
You can also do some small trekking around the area. There are little pathways that allow you to wander around and explore. It feels very forest-like – mud paths, rocky trails, singing birds, and all.
Some even bring food with them. It is a nice spot for a picnic; just be sure to watch your wrappers and not just to throw them around.
There are also some local villages nearby. If you have time, you can stop in and check out how they live. They’re just simple, friendly people, and you might even be treated to some local food or tea.
It is not a place that requires large plans; just show up, take it in, and let the place surprise you.
Travel Advice for Visitors: Safety, Footwear, and Food
As you plan your adventure to the Gira Waterfall, the following few small tips will help ensure you enjoy your day trip and help you stay safe.
Footwear: Remember, proper footwear does not have to be fancy. Pick out something comfortable with traction such as sports shoes or trekking sandals. The walking surface near the waterfall is wet and a little slippery, especially during the season of monsoon. If you wear chappals or shoes with smooth soles, you may very well fall/slip. Take raincoat or umbrella with plastic bags.
Safety Knowledge: Take care when approaching a waterfall, they may seem inviting, but they can be dangerous, sometimes with slippery and jagged rocks. Project Falls from the water are finest viewed from a safe distance when one can enjoy the view from a distance, for example, sitting on a rock instead of precariously climbing to the edge of a steep slope or going into fast-moving water.
If you tend to get a bit hungry, there are usually a couple of stalls around you that will sell tea, bhutta (corn), maggi, and sometimes pakoras, all which are quite nice to eat in that weather! But it’s always a good idea to take some snacks with you from home, just in case you arrive and they are closed or not open.
Also, don’t litter, Bring a bag to carry your wrappers and bottles with you. It’s a lovely place, and you should keep it a lovely place for others too.
Conclusion
In conclusion, visiting Gira Waterfall is like a small adventure that takes you to nature. You get to see the beauty of water and green trees and meet some friendly people, this is undoubtedly a trip you will cherish for life.
